How do I undo a deleted Flip video?

Posted on: December 25th, 2008

So my scenario is pretty stupid: I’m using the FlipShare program, sorting through my Flip videos and I select the coolest video and press “Delete” and confirm the deletion.

 Moments later, I’m like, “Waaa…? Did I just….?”

Yeah, and it’s then you notice there’s no “Undo Delete video” option in the Flip program. And if you check your Recyle Bin, the deleted video doesn’t show up there either. You begin to cold sweat.

My desperate Google search found this article and it points to a program called “UndeleteMyFiles”. I download the program and as it installs I continue to call myself an idiot, a loser, a failure at life and other such derogatory terms meant to instill self confidence.

I run the program. It lists my C drive as well as my Flip Video camera (listed as G: drive). I select my Flip Video camera and press the button, “Search”. It lists 10 or so videos, all of which had been previously deleted at some time or another. I select one video and click the button, “Recover”. It asks me to specify a folder on my computer to recover the video to. I do that and begin to cry. It’s recovering my video.

The recovered file is called “_ID00018″. I go to my Flip Video camera folder (the G: drive) and navigate to the folder of videos. I copy my “_ID00018.avi” file into the camera’s folder and rename the file, “VID00018“.

Then  I restarted my FlipShare program. It opens and displays my lost-now-recovered file as being available to edit, send, and share as normal.

I become profusely grateful. I write this post for all other FlipVideo owners who run into the same stupid scenario. And yes, it is stupid. Been there, done that.

I will Sail for You

Posted on: December 5th, 2008

Using a Samson microphone, Audacity and late night hours, I’ve been testing my audio editing skills. Honestly, it’s more noob then skill, but that’s the way of homerecording. After 3 hours, here’s an mp3 of our song, “I will Sail for You”.

How to convert MOV to AVI/ MP3

Posted on: October 13th, 2008

A lot of cameras will film clips in Quicktime’s MOV format and it’s an annoying format when you want to edit those clips. Here’s a small outline that will allow you to convert your Quicktime MOV files to AVI files, which can then be edited, or further converted into an MP3 file.  Read the rest of this entry »

Bonus Tuesday: it’s formal day!

Posted on: October 1st, 2008

Bring your suits and ties. This Bonus Tuesday was all about formal clothes, pictures, pictures, and more pictures. For the group activity we did a cool thing called MadLibs. Then we switched over to “interview mode” and interviewed Little Red Riding Hood. For a finishing touch, we sang some songs, waved, and said “goodbye” ya’ll!  Special moment at 44:00 when Dave and I show a video of us filmed back in 1997. We were young. Here’s the recorded footage: Read the rest of this entry »

UFOs and Drama: 3rd Tropical Punch

Posted on: September 23rd, 2008

Our third episode of Tropical Punch was hosted at our brand new website, TropicalPunch.tv and we yacked about UFOs, antique radio, and Shaziggle (we invented that word). Then we introduced the “Hammer of Justice” prop and used this weapon to punish each other for lame jokes.

Here’s the recorded version and be sure to check out: our Radio Drama, “The Bitter Sting of Betrayal” at 50 minutes into the show and the lamest Batman joke at an hour and eight minutes.

How to setup an online Picasa photo album

Posted on: September 1st, 2008

IMO, Picasa is the best photo management program out there. If you have a digital camera, you should have Picasa, as it will allow you to sort, send, edit, crop, print, and share all your pictures. (It’s also free.)

This tutorial shows how to use Picasa to upload pictures to an online album. At the end of these steps, you will be able to select certain pictures, upload them to an online album, and send the link to friends to view the photos. For example, I uploaded the pictures of a recent conference held in Brazil, SA.

How to setup a free IRC client and wyldryde

Posted on: September 1st, 2008

Many live shows, like our Tropical Punch, Rhett and Link’s live show, and tech king Chris Pirillo, use the wyldryde.org free chatroom. Using the wyldryde chatroom allows for viewers to quickly choose a username and begin chatting, without having to go through the hassle of registering an account at BlogTV or Ustream.

However, as the admin of your wyldryde chatroom channel, you may find yourself a bit limited in moderating your chatroom. This tutorial shows you how to connect to your chatroom using an IRC program.

“IRC” is the format of chat that is being used by wyldryde. An IRC program facilitates modding in a couple of ways:  i. they allow admins to save entire chatroom chats and they facilitate kicking/banning. You may also view the chatroom in full screen, instead of being restricted to the small chatroom that is embeded in a webpage.

First Episode of Tropical Punch

Posted on: August 26th, 2008

Our biweekly live show, Tropical Punch, had it’s first airing yesterday! We talked about Amber’s dream of going to Ireland, Stephanie’s phone call with a certain Mrs. Daniel Gardner, and Heather’s experience with throwed rolls. Then Dave stopped by with a can of green hair coloring and we started doing magic tricks and reading a sob story about Lanky Franky.

For those of you who lost the world-changing, attitude-molding and life-directing first episode of Tropical Punch … do not worry!! We recorded it!

Here a few pictures of the occasion:
