A lot of cameras will film clips in Quicktime’s MOV format and it’s an annoying format when you want to edit those clips. Here’s a small outline that will allow you to convert your Quicktime MOV files to AVI files, which can then be edited, or further converted into an MP3 file.
- First, use RAD Video Tools to convert the MOV to a clean AVI. Here’s a post with a great tutorial that will walk you through everything.
- This will produce an AVI file, which you can edit with Windows Movie Maker if you like.
- Optional: to extract the audio from an AVI file and save the audio as an MP3, you’ll need to use the slick Switch Sound File Converter. (Note: on install when it asks you to select related programs to install, leave all of them unselected and click Finish.) It does a great, free job of AVI to MP3 conversion.
Good luck!
